Organize low priority emails with the enhanced "Updates" category
Announcement
Hello everyone,
The Google Workspace team continues to deliver new features that have proven benefits to our users. Recently, we conducted an experiment that activates a refreshed version of the Updates category in Gmail. We received positive feedback from participants and are now bringing the feature to additional users to help them focus on the emails that matter most to them.
The refreshed Updates category includes emails like notifications, automated confirmations, and statements that don't need your immediate attention. This keeps your Primary category focused, making it easier to find the emails that are most important to you.
The Updates category is available across all platforms and is accessible to users with the Default inbox type. Previously, if you selected the Default inbox type, you would see Primary, Promotions, and Social as the three categories, with the Updates and Forum categories as optional add-ons. For eligible users using an updated version of the Android and iOS Gmail app, the Updates category is now enabled by default.
If you don’t want to use the Updates category, you can turn it off in your Gmail settings. Learn how to turn off inbox categories.
Regards,
Syed, on behalf of Gmail team
