I can not resubscribe to a paid newsletter after I accidentally used Gmail's "unsubscribe"

I can not resubscribe to a paid newsletter after I accidentally used  Gmail's "unsubscribe".

This problem has been raised in the past and it has not been resolved. The problem has been falling on the deaf ears of the so called experts. Here's my exact problem and what I've done to try to fix it.

I am paid subscriber to the New York Times. I used Gmail's unsubscribe link found at the top an email when using Windows to unsubscribe from one of the several Times emails I had been getting. Now, I get no emails of any kind from the New York Times.

Their server, nytimees.com, is not being blocked by Gmail. The mail is not going to spam or trash. My NY Times  account web page says I'm still subscribed to the newsletters I want. I have removed my subscriptions and then resubscribed. I have contacted the NYTimes and they reset my account. When I now sign up for a newsletter and the Times says you have been sent a confirmation email, I don't receive the email.

Here's the real kicker: I thought I'll do a workaround. I'll have my newsletters sent to another email account like Hotmail and then forward it to my Gmail account. No dice! Gmail still blocks it!

i got this reply for you from Google

  1. Click the settings button in the top-right corner of the screen.
  2. Select "See all settings" from the drop-down menu.
  3. Navigate to the "Filters and Blocked Addresses" tab.
  4. Scroll down and select "Create a new filter".
  5. Add the email address or domain you want to whitelist.
  6. Select "Create filter"
  7. Check the box that reads "Never send it to Spam".
We don't have an explicit way to "re"subscribe to an email since we treat it like spam once the user selects unsubscribe. But the user can whitelist to allow it back into their inbox. Changes usually take up to 24 hours as well if the user follows these steps.

Yes, I checked blocked senders. I though I said that in my original message.
