Can't find the group I want to join

Hey there. I recently got an email from a friend who is a member of a group on Google. It's a group for our neighborhood. Problem is, I can't find the group when I search for it in my Groups>Search all groups!
How can I find and join a group that doesn't show up in my group search?

If you can't find the group in search, the owners may have turned that off for the group. You'll need to contact one of the owners and ask them to invite you to the group.
