Body Temperature
- Turn on the Body temperature tile by tapping the pencil in the upper right of the Today tab. Tap the switch next to Body temperature
Save.
- From the Today tab in the Fitbit app, tap the Body temperature tile. A graph of your body temperatures appears.
- Tap + Log temperature on the bottom right.
Some phone models may display + Add temperature on the bottom right instead. Tap + Add temperature - Fill in the date and time you took your temperature and your body temperature
Save.The Thermometer app has a Body temperature feature on qualified Pixel phones. With this feature, you can use your smartphone to take body temperature measurements and then save them to the Fitbit app. Note that this feature is only currently available in certain countries and on certain Pixel phone devices. For more information, refer to How do I take my temperature with my Pixel phone?
You can set up the connection either from the Fitbit app or the Thermometer app.
Fitbit app
- From the Today tab in the Fitbit app, tap the Body temperature tile. If the Body temperature tile isn't visible, add it by tapping the pencil and on the upper right of the Today tab and turning on the switch next to Body temperature
- Tap Get started on the Take your temperature card. You’ll open an introductory screen. Tap Continue.
- If you signed in with a Fitbit account, you will first open a card inviting you to move Fitbit to your Google Account. Tap the card and follow the on-screen instructions. For more information, go to What should I know about moving Fitbit to my Google Account? You will then open the Take your temperature card.
- When you’re prompted to connect Thermometer to other apps, turn on the switch to allow Thermometer to share body temperature data with Fitbit
- You can manage or turn off the connection in Settings

- After you set up the correct permissions and settings, take a temperature measurement by following the instructions in How do I take my temperature with my Pixel phone?. After you take your temperature, tap Save on the bottom right.
- You’ll open a screen explaining how results are saved to your Fitbit profile. Tap Save. The body temperature value saves to Fitbit and can be viewed on a body temperature graph.
Thermometer app
- Make sure the Fitbit app is installed on your phone and that you are logged into Fitbit using a Google account.
- Open the Thermometer app on your Pixel phone and tap Body temperature.
- When you’re prompted to connect Thermometer to other apps, turn on the switch to allow Thermometer to share body temperature data with Fitbit
- You can manage or turn off the connection in Settings

- Take a temperature measurement by following the instructions in How do I take my temperature with my Pixel phone? After you take your temperature, tap Save on the bottom right.
- On the Recent results screen, tap Save to Fitbit next to the temperature value you want to share with Fitbit.
- You'll then be taken to the Fitbit app, and you’ll open a screen explaining how results are saved to your Fitbit profile. Tap Save. The body temperature value will save to Fitbit and can be checked on a body temperature graph.
Troubleshooting
If your temperature isn’t saved to the Fitbit app or you get an error message, confirm:
- If you’re logged into the Fitbit app, you'll continue. If not, you’ll be prompted to log in. After logging in, return to the Thermometer app and try again to share your temperature.
- The Fitbit app is installed. If it’s not installed, you’ll be taken to the Play Store to download the Fitbit app. Download the app and log into your Fitbit account. Then return to the Thermometer app and try again to share your temperature.
- You log in to the Fitbit app using a Google account. If you haven’t moved Fitbit to your Google Account, follow the instructions in What should I know about moving Fitbit to my Google Account?. After moving your account, return to the Thermometer app and try again to share your temperature.
- You’re not logged into a child account in Fitbit. Saving body temperatures for child profiles isn’t currently supported.
- You aren’t trying to save a result with an age range of 0–3 months or 3–36 months to your adult Fitbit account. You should only save your own data to your Fitbit account.
Fitbit app
- From the Today tab in the Fitbit app, tap the Body temperature tile.
- Tap + Add temperature on the bottom right
- Take a temperature measurement by following the instructions in How do I take my temperature with my Pixel phone?
- After you take your temperature, tap Save on the bottom right. The body temperature value will save to Fitbit and can be checked on a body temperature graph.
Thermometer app
You can also measure body temperature starting from the Pixel phone’s Thermometer app and save the data to the Fitbit app.
- Open the Thermometer app on your Pixel phone and tap Body temperature.
- Follow the instructions in How do I take my temperature with my Pixel phone? to get a temperature measurement. After you take your temperature, tap Save on the bottom right.
- On the Recent results screen, tap Save to Fitbit next to the temperature value you want to share with Fitbit. You'll then be taken to the Fitbit app, where the temperature value can be viewed on a body temperature graph.
- Data isn't automatically shared with the Fitbit app. Tapping Save to Fitbit next to a temperature value only shares that value.

When you open the Thermometer app from Fitbit, you might go to an error message if the temperature sensor is currently unavailable. Notes
- Thermometer app values stored to Fitbit can be viewed on any Android smartphone. Checking on data saved from the Thermometer app isn’t supported yet in the Fitbit app for iOS. You can export your data to check Thermometer data saved to Fitbit. For details refer to How do I export my Fitbit data?
- In the Fitbit app, timestamps are handled differently for manually logged temperatures versus temperatures saved from the Thermometer app. For manual logs, timestamps are always displayed in the local time at time of logging. They don’t update when timezones change. For temperatures saved from the Thermometer app, timestamps are displayed in current local time based upon the phone’s system settings.
- If you log a temperature when your phone isn’t connected to the internet, your phone will send the data to Fitbit servers when it reconnects to the internet. Rarely, the values may fail to save to Fitbit servers. If this happens, you can re-export the value from the Thermometer app to Fitbit within 7 days of the time of measurement.
- From the Today tab in the Fitbit app, tap the Body temperature tile. A graph of your body temperatures appears with a list of your temperature history below.
- Tap an individual temperature value.
- Tap the deletion in the upper right
When you remove a body temperature value from the Fitbit app, it won't be deleted from your phone’s Thermometer app. Similarly, when you remove a value from your phone’s Thermometer app, it won't delete it from Fitbit.
Notes
- You can only delete values when you are connected to the internet.
- The Manage your Fitbit Data page in your web browser doesn't yet support deletion of values saved to Fitbit from the Thermometer app. To delete these values from the Fitbit app, refer to How do I add, edit, or delete Fitbit data and activities?
- Deleting your Fitbit account will delete values saved to Fitbit from the Thermometer app. For information on how to delete your Fitbit account, refer to How do I delete my Fitbit account and service?
- From the Today tab in the Fitbit app, tap the Body temperature tile. If the Body temperature tile doesn't appear, select the pencil on the upper right of the Today tab and turn on the switch next to Body temperature
- Tap an individual temperature in the list to check details about that value.
Skin Temperature
Fitbit Sense and Fitbit Sense 2 use a dedicated sensor to estimate your skin temperature variation during sleep sessions. Fitbit Charge 4, Fitbit Charge 5, Fitbit Charge 6, Google Pixel Watch 2, Google Pixel Watch 3, Fitbit Inspire 2, Fitbit Inspire 3, Fitbit Luxe, and Fitbit Versa series surface your sleep-measured skin temperature variation through existing sensors.
Everyone has a different temperature baseline. When you wear a compatible Fitbit device to sleep, it checks your skin temperature every minute. When the Fitbit app has tracked your sleep skin temperature data for at least 3 days, it estimates your baseline temperature. As you continue to wear your Fitbit device to sleep, the Fitbit app uses up to 30 days of data to adjust your baseline temperature.
- Wear your device for at least 3 days, including to sleep.
- Upon waking, open the Fitbit app and tap the Skin temp variation tile.
You'll get a history of your sleeping skin temperature variations, along with any core temperature readings you manually recorded. - Tap the tile to check a history of your sleeping skin temperature variations, along with any core temperature readings you manually recorded.
- Tap a log to check a minute-by-minute record of your skin temperature variation throughout the most recent sleep session.
You may notice more variation when you check on your minute-by-minute data, as compared with your overall skin temperature variation for a sleep session. Your skin temperature changes throughout your sleep period as you move around and your body regulates itself. Your overall variation is based on your average skin temperature during a sleep session.
- Wear your device for at least 3 nights, especially to sleep.
- In the morning, open the Fitbit app and tap the Health metrics tile. Your skin temperature variation is listed as one of your metrics.
- Tap the Skin temp variation tile to get variation over the course of a week, month, and or year.
- In the Week view, tap Learn more below the graph for an even better understanding of how this metric is calculated.
- Wear your device for at least 3 days, when you go to sleep.
- When you wake up, open the Fitbit app and select the Skin temp variation tile.
- Tap a sleep record to get more details.
Skin temperature typically varies over the course of a sleep session. Factors that may cause skin temperature to vary include changes in room temperature, bedding, circadian rhythm, menstrual cycle, or the onset of an illness. Note that significant changes in ambient temperature may negatively impact skin temperature tracking.
