What should I know about using my Fitbit device with the All of Us Research Program?

The All of Us Research Program is an ongoing research program run by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The program collects data on participants’ physical health, habits, and lifestyle, to better understand factors that affect people’s health.

The program asks participants to have their physical measurements taken, provide biosamples, complete surveys, and share health records. Participants may be offered the opportunity to participate in clinical trials. For more information, visit the All of Us Research Program page.

Anyone who is 18 years or older can apply to participate in the All of Us Research Program. To apply, visit the All of Us Research Program’s Get Started page.

You can use any Fitbit device to provide data for the All of Us Research Program.

To share your Fitbit data with the All of Us Research Program:

1. Log in to your All of Us Research Program account.
2. Tap Sync Apps & Devices.
3. Follow the instructions to link your Fitbit account.

To stop sharing your Fitbit data with the All of Us Research Program:

1. Log in to your All of Us Research Program account.
2. Tap Sync Apps & Devices.
3. Find the Fitbit tile and tap Stop sharing.
