Exciting Updates coming to your Duo app!

Announcement
In the coming weeks, Google Duo will be upgraded to include both video calling and meeting capabilities. Then, later this year, the name of the Google Duo app will be updated to Google Meet.

Google Duo features aren't going away.
Your current video calling features will remain with this upgrade. This will be an improved app experience and doesn’t require a new app download. You’ll still be able to do everything you’ve always done in Google Duo such as:
  • Make video calls to friends and family by phone number or email.
  • Use fun filters and effects.
  • Send messages.
  • Ask Google Assistant to call with your existing devices.
You'll have access to new features
With the upgrade, Google Duo users will be able to schedule, create, and join a meeting. You'll also get access to Google Meet’s suite of meeting features and capabilities, which will allow you to:
  • Use in-meeting chat, live closed captions, and virtual backgrounds.
  • Enjoy enhanced video and audio experiences with noise cancellation.
  • Schedule a meeting or set up instant meetings, that each person can join when they’re ready.
  • Engage with larger groups of up to 100 people on video.
Get ready for the new experience in the Google Duo app
In the coming weeks, Google Meet features will be added to the Google Duo app through app updates, and before the end of the year, the updated Duo app will be renamed Google Meet.
  • If you are using Duo or Meet at no cost today, you will not need to pay for the new experience.
  • Existing video calling features from Duo are here to stay and Duo conversation history, contacts, and messages will continue to be saved in the app.
  • Meet in Gmail will continue to work with no changes.
  • While these updates roll out to the Duo app, the original Meet app will continue to work.
  • After the completed rollout of updates to the Duo app, users that open the original Meet app will be guided to use the new version of the app
Make sure Duo’s auto-updates are turned on to begin using the combined experience when it becomes available. Learn how to update apps on Android.

is is not exciting news and could explain the problems that users have been facing using gogole duo on the  lenovo smart devices https://support.google.com/duo/thread/161219597?hl=en&msgid=163627472 There hasnt ben an update for a month, i can only assume google duo enginners are just focused on launching google meet and have  us all in the  lurch while they prioritise that. Peopel cant talk to thier families for over a month! whats the point of haing a service that you dpended on ( the vunerable aand elderly) if it becomes unusable for a month. "Get ready for a new experience in the google duo app"? You men the experince of it echoing  continuously rendering it useless? I just want an update! and a solution! is that too much to ask for?

hi
To support the millions of users who rely on our technology for video calls and meetings, we’ve made deep investments in both Google Duo and Google Meet. For those using Duo as their cross-platform video calling appservice, we’ve introduced new features like group calls for up to 32 people, the addition of doodles, masks, and fun effects with family mode, and video calling on tablets, foldables, smart devices, and TVs.

In April our nightly Duo calls became difficult as there is now an annoying echo. We did not change anything on either of our ends and believe there may have been an update that is the culprit.  Please fix it. We want to use the devices that we paid good money for.

To the user above me, that may not be something Duo can fix. If multiple people are using any video calling app in the same area, be it Duo, Zoom, etc., you'll get an echo. The only way to alleviate it is to have someone mute themselves, especially if they're on a group call.

Back to the original post, I'm excited about the new features and cannot wait to see how they all work together.
