Use a third-party to monitor devices

For administrators who manage ChromeOS devices for a business.

As a Chrome administrator, you can monitor the operation and health of ChromeOS devices. You can do this using tools from an approved enterprise device telemetry partner.

Your partner can access ChromeOS device data, including battery health, disk capacity, thermal state, and associated user data. Your partner might contact you about maintaining or improving device health.

Before you begin

  • HP Device as a Service (DaaS) is currently the only approved enterprise device telemetry partner tool for ChromeOS devices.
  • As well as getting licenses that are required by your partner, you need to order Chrome Enterprise Upgrade and purchase an upgrade for each device that you want to manage.

Set up enterprise device telemetry monitoring

Stop using the device telemetry console

To stop using the device telemetry console, you can revoke OAuth 2.0 authorization by revoking the token. Or, you can use your Admin console to disable the telemetry partners’ access to your devices.

  1. Sign in with an administrator account to the Google Admin console.

If you aren’t using an administrator account, you can’t access the Admin console.

  2. Go to Menu and then Devices > Chrome > Settings > Device settings.

Requires having the Mobile Device Management administrator privilege.

  3. To apply the setting to all devices, leave the top organizational unit selected. Otherwise, select a child organizational unit.
  4. Go to Chrome management - partner access.
  5. Click Allow EMM partners access to device management.
  6. Select Disable Chrome management - partner access.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Go to  Menu and then Devices > Chrome > Settings. The User & browser settings page opens by default.

Requires having the Mobile Device Management administrator privilege.

If you signed up for Chrome Enterprise Core, go to Menu and then Chrome browser > Settings.

  9. To apply the setting to all devices, leave the top organizational unit selected. Otherwise, select a child organizational unit.
  10. Go to Chrome management - partner access.
  11. Click Allow EMM partners access to device management.
  12. Select Disable Chrome management - partner access.
  13. Click Save. Or, you might click Override for an organizational unit.
