Taking a Look at The "Same Gmail OTP" Issue

1.3M Views8.2K Upvotes
When Google send a code to the very Gmail email of the Google Account being recovered, it is generally because-
  • you haven't got enough verification options set up to verify yourself adequately, and-
  • Google hope that you have access to the Gmail's inbox on some other device or app or are forwarding to another email that you can access the inbox for.
The bottom line is that you will need to try to use the recovery flow: https://support.google.com/accounts/troubleshooter/2402620 as best you can. There is no other way.

Please read through these tips to try to help you use it effectively: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/7299973 (note the last paragraph which starts "Still can't get in?..." if all else fails).  For Android users there is also this (in English only): https://guidebooks.google.com/android/getstarted/signintoyourgoogleaccount.

One last tip- if you know your Google Account's password, you can try waiting seven full days (168 hours, and not a minute less please) before you try again. It can sometimes helps.

Update
Hi everyone-  sadly, due to the inordinate amount of spamming happening on this community video, I am forced to lock it from time to time.  This is a great shame for those of you who really need help understanding this issue, but cannot be helped as the spam is hiding the message:

When Google send a code to the same Gmail as the one being recovered, it is mostly because-
  • you did not set-up/maintain enough verification options to verify yourself properly when you still had access, and-
  • Google can only offer you this, in the hope that you have access to the Gmail's inbox on some other device or app or are forwarding from it to another email that you can access the inbox for.
The bottom line is that you will need to try to use the recovery flow: https://support.google.com/accounts/troubleshooter/2402620 as best you can.

There is absolutely no other way.  Anyone who tells you that there is, is lying to you.

Folks-  please do not spam this thread and please do take the time to read the video description (translate it into your language if you don't understand it) and maybe even watch the video with subtitles in your language.

There is no magic fix for this and anyone who tells you that there is and asks you to pay them to show you how to fix it is lying to you.  Do not give them money, whatever you do!

Lost my old device two step verification problem and forget password.gmail is very important now. Still unable to recover. why Google limits verification process.
@Shaik rafeeq-  it is not Google "limiting" the verification process.  It is us users;  because we do not set up enough recovery/verification options up to begin with.  And even if Google were responsible (which they are not)-Google cannot add verification options for you after you lost access.  No- you must do this for yourself before you lose access.

I lost my phone and forget my Gmail ID password. when I select "forget password" option, they want OTP while doing account recovery. I can give sim otp but not gmail id otp (only my gmail id login in lost phone) and there want two otp. Please do something as soon as possible...
No one can do anything about this for you.  But you can try remembering your Google Account password and then see if your phone number OTP suffices.

@NaikBabu-  yes, that is the subject of this video.  You need to verify yourself in two ways.
