With most YouTube movie rentals, you have 30 days from the time of purchase to start your movie and 24 hours from the time you start to finish watching (or to watch as many times as you can!).
Though this is true for many YouTube rentals, make sure to pay attention to the Rental grant period and the Rental pass length of each movie rental.
Definition of the rental period
- Rental grant period: The amount of time you have to start watching your movie. The Rental Grant Period starts when you purchase the movie rental and is 30 days unless indicated otherwise. Once the Rental Grant Period has ended, you'll lose access to the movie, even if you haven't finished watching it.
- Rental pass length: The amount of time you have to watch your movie. The Rental active period starts when you first begin watching your movie and is 24 hours for many studio titles, though it varies depending on the Partner offering the movie for rental.
Where do I find the Rental period of each movie?
The Rental Period is clearly indicated in the purchase window, which appears when you click the price button on the movie information page.
How do I know how much time I have left before my movie rental expires?
All of your recent movie rentals and their associated rental expiration countdowns are displayed on your Purchases page. Once you start watching your movie, the rental grant period countdown will be replaced by the expiration time of your rental pass.
