Make Google my homepage

Have Google at your fingertips when browsing the Web by making Google.com your homepage. Instructions are provided below for common browsers.

Google Chrome

Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer 9

  1. Open google.com.
  2. Click the Tools button (which looks like a gear) in the browser, then click Internet options.
  3. Click Use current.
  4. Click OK.

Internet Explorer 6, 7, 8

  1. Click the Tools menu in the browser.
  2. Select Internet Options.
  3. Click the General tab.
  4. In the "Home page" section, enter http://www.google.com in the text box.
  5. Click OK.

Firefox

Fireforx 7.1+ (Windows)

  1. Go to google.com
  2. Click the icon to the left of the web address, drag it to the Home button in the upper right-hand side of the browser, and release.
  3. Click Yes.

Firefox 3.6 (Windows)

  1. Click the Tools menu in the browser.
  2. Select Options.
  3. Click the General tab.
  4. In the Startup section, select "Show my home page" in the "When Firefox starts" drop-down.
  5. Enter http://www.google.com in the "Home Page" text box.
  6. Click OK.

Firefox 3.6+ (Mac)

  1. Click the Firefox menu in the browser.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. Click the General tab.
  4. In the Startup section, select "Show my home page" in the "When Firefox starts" drop-down.
  5. Enter http://www.google.com in the "Home Page" text box.
  6. Close the window.

Safari 3.0+ (Mac OS X)

  1. Click the Safari menu in the browser.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. Click the General tab.
  4. In the Home page section, enter http://www.google.com in the text box.
  5. Close the window.
