Google Checkout Transitioning to Google Wallet

Google Checkout is becoming part of Google Wallet. Please see these Frequently Asked Questions below to find out more about the transition. Please note that some of the features of Google Wallet are only available in certain countries.

All users with a Google Checkout account, and anyone who’d like to sign up for Google Wallet going forward.

When is Checkout becoming part of Google Wallet?

The full transition will take time, but users worldwide will start to manage their account at http://wallet.google.com/manage.

I'm a Google Checkout merchant. How do I manage my orders?

For Google Checkout merchants, nothing is changing right now. Just log in at https://checkout.google.com/sell to manage your orders as you always have.

Why do I see Google Checkout when buying from some sellers and Google Wallet when buying from others?

We’re giving merchants time to transition from Google Checkout to Google Wallet, so during the next few months, you might see both logos. However, all Google Checkout merchants will accept Google Wallet.

Why is my Google Checkout account moving to Google Wallet?

We are moving Google Checkout accounts to Google Wallet to give users additional ways to pay and places to shop. Google Wallet is a virtual wallet that stores your payment information securely and makes paying fast both in-store and online. Google Checkout users will now be able to make purchases with their existing account anywhere Google Wallet is accepted and see order history at wallet.google.com/manage.

If I have a Google Checkout account, what do I need to do?

If you have a Checkout account, you don’t need to do anything right now. You’ll be prompted to accept a new Terms of Service when you make your next purchase with a Google Wallet or Checkout merchant.

If I don’t have a Checkout account, what do I do?

Just go to wallet.google.com/manage to sign up for a Google Wallet. You’ll be asked for your contact and credit card information, and will have the opportunity to sign up for our newsletter. You’ll also be prompted to create a Google Wallet if you make a purchase at a Google Wallet merchant, such as Google Offers. [Sprint Nexus S 4G phone users in the United States can also create an account directly in the Google Wallet app.]

Will I have to re-enter my payment and shipping information in Google Wallet if I am a current Checkout user?

Your existing payment & shipping info will be available for use in your Google Wallet (formerly known as your Checkout account) for online use. You can manage your online wallet by going to wallet.google.com/manage in a browser, and someday maybe we'll let you also do that through the Wallet app

What will happen to my existing orders?

Your existing orders can be viewed at wallet.google.com/manage.

I’ve forgotten my Checkout login information. What do I do?

Please visit the Google account recovery page.

Is my Google Checkout account now connected to the Google Wallet app for Android?

Yes - if you have a Sprint Nexus S 4G phone, you can log in to the Google Wallet app using the same login information you used for Google Checkout. If you have a Sprint Nexus S 4G and enable the Google Wallet app, you will also be able to reload your Google Prepaid Card from the payment cards stored in your Google Wallet. Additionally, if you have a Citi MasterCard in your Google Checkout account, you can add that to the Google Wallet app and enable it for in-store use.

How can I use Google Wallet with a mobile device?

If you’re on a site that accepts Google Wallet or Google Checkout - for example, Android Market or any Checkout merchant - you can simply choose to pay via Google Wallet. If you have a Sprint Nexus S 4G phone, you can also take advantage of the Google Wallet app to “tap and pay” in participating retailers.
