Uploaded video content can be downloaded or moved to YouTube

We've added an Upload to YouTube button to the Video Status new window page which will allow you to easily upload your videos to YouTube. In addition, we’ve added a Download link, so you can download any video content you want to save.

These changes do not apply to Google Video for Business or Google Video for Education. Business and education users can continue to upload and share videos.

How do I upload my videos to YouTube?

Here’s how to upload your videos to YouTube:

  1. Go to the Video Status page.
  2. To upload your videos to YouTube, click the checkbox next to each video and then click Upload Videos to YouTube at the bottom of your list of videos.

Once a video has been uploaded, “Upload to YouTube” will appear next to the Download Video link.

In order for you to use the “Upload to YouTube” feature, you will need to have a YouTube account associated with your Google Video account. Please read YouTube’s Terms of Service and Copyright Regulations before migrating so that you understand what's allowed on the site —YouTube's rules are somewhat different from those you may be used to at Google Video.

NOTE: If you have a large number of videos on Google Video, you may want to wait until Google Video team launches a simple full account migration to YouTube feature.

How do I download videos that I've uploaded?

Here’s how to download your videos:

  1. Go to the Video Status page.
  2. To download a video to your computer, click the Download Video link located on the right side of each of your videos in the Actions column.

Once a video has been downloaded, “Already Downloaded” will appear next to the Download Video link. If you have many videos on Google Video, you may need to use the paging controls located on the bottom right of the page to access them all.

I've downloaded my videos. Now what do I do with these FLV files?

FLV files are videos that have been encoded in the Flash Video Format. If you want to upload your videos to another video hosting site like YouTube or Picassa Web Albums, those sites love FLV files and will gladly take your content. If you would like to playback your videos on your computer and they don’t seem to be working, you might need to install an FLV player. In order to find an FLV player to install, do a Google search.
