Why are search engines missing from my reports?

The Organic Keywords Match field in your Profile Settings controls how Urchin detects search engines and keywords. To check and/or edit this field:

  1. Click Configuration (top right of interface).
  2. Click the Edit wrench icon next to the profile for which you want to check search engines.
  3. Click the Reporting tab.
  4. The Organic Keywords Match field appears under Data Parsing Option.

Using the Organic Keywords Match list (comma-separated), Urchin will look for parameters in referring site queries that match. Urchin then captures the value of the parameter as the keywords or search term used in the referral. Add entries to the Organic Keywords Match list to capture search terms that may not be automatically included. The default list works for most search engines.

For example, if the Organic Keyword Match list contains "google|q", and a URL in log file contains google|q (where "q" is the first letter of the query), google will be displayed as the search engine.

Note: "Organic Keywords Match" works only for non-UTM tracking method.
