Wireless charging for Pixel 9 Pro Fold
Important: The Pixel 9 Pro Fold doesn't support the Pixel Stand due to the position of the wireless charging coil, but it supports many other wireless chargers. To align your phone correctly with a compatible wireless charger, check the charging indicator on your phone.

Unlock high-power charging
To unlock up to 23W charging on your Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL, up to 20W on your Pixel 7, and up to 21W charging on your Pixel 6 and Pixel 9 Pro:
- Make sure your phone is on the latest software version. Fast wireless charging with up to 23W is available with SQ1D.211205.016.A1 and SQ1D.220105.007 and will be available with later software versions.
- Complete Pixel Stand app onboarding.
After you install the latest Pixel phone software updates and complete Pixel Stand app onboarding, you can charge wirelessly at up to 23W and enjoy Fan Controls, Photo Frames, Immersive Media, and other exclusive Pixel Stand experiences.
Requirements for Pixel Stand
Phones that work with Pixel StandYour Pixel Stand can charge any phone that works with Qi wireless charging, like the Pixel 4, Pixel 5, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Fold, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a, Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL.
Your Pixel Stand can charge your phone through most phone cases that are up to 3 millimeters thick. These cases include:
- Made by Google cases for Pixel
- Most Made for Google cases
- Google’s My Case for Pixel 3
Depending on what your phone's case is made of, your phone could charge slowly or not at all.
Your Pixel Stand can't charge phones through cases that have metal, batteries, or attachments, like mounts or grips.
Set up your Pixel Stand
Important: Make sure you have the 1.5-meter USB-C cable and power adapter that came with your Pixel Stand.
- On the bottom of your Pixel Stand, plug one end of the cable into the USB-C port.
- Plug the other end of the cable into the power adapter.
- Plug the power adapter into the wall.
Tip: When using a different power adapter, you may experience charging rates as low as 5W. High power charging requires a 30W USB PD power adapter that supports a minimum of 14V, like the adapter that came with your Pixel Stand (2nd gen).
Charge your phone or earbuds
After you’ve set up your Pixel Stand 2, you can charge your phone or earbuds.
Important: On the Pixel Stand (2nd gen), the Pixel phone only charges when it stands up in portrait mode.
To charge your phone, center your phone on your Pixel Stand 2 with your phone screen facing outward.
To charge your earbuds:
- Place your earbuds in your case.
- Center your case on your Pixel Stand 2.

LED patterns on your Pixel Stand
When a device is placed in the Pixel Stand and it starts to charge, or when the device battery is at 100% you'll see a white light that stays on for 3 to 4 seconds.
There’s an error in charging, like an obstruction or a misaligned device. To fix this issue:
- Reposition your phone on the stand.
- Remove any case from your phone. Then, try again.
- Remove any metallic stickers from your phone. Then, try again.

An amber light will blink around every 2 seconds. Your power adapter isn’t compatible with the dock. The Pixel Stand (2nd gen) requires a power adapter that’s rated 12W or higher to charge your phone.
- If you’re using the power adapter that came with your Pixel Stand: Unplug it from the outlet and plug it back in and try again.
- If you’re using a different power adapter: Try a different adapter or the adapter that came with your Pixel Stand.
Tip: When using a different power adapter, you may experience charging rates as low as 5W. High power charging requires a 30W USB PD power adapter that supports a minimum of 14V, like the adapter that came with your Pixel Stand (2nd gen).
Set up your Pixel Stand and display your favorite photos
Important: Pixel Stand is not compatible with Pixel 6a, Pixel Fold, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
- Add your connected device by placing your device on the Pixel Stand.
- Follow the prompt to "Display your favorite photos."
- Tap Set up.
- Verify your Google Account.
- To add photos, albums, or people to the slideshow, follow the on-screen instructions.
Change charging modes on Pixel Stand (2nd gen)
If you have already completed Pixel Stand app onboarding, you can choose from 3 charging modes:
- Optimized (default): Balances charging speed with fan noise for the best out of box experience
- Max: Charge at the highest possible speed, given device conditions, battery charge level, and other factors.
- Quiet: Make the fan run as quietly as possible.
To select a mode as the default for your Pixel Stand (2nd gen):
- Open your phone’s Settings app.
- Tap Connected devices.
- If you don't see "Pixel Stand Gen 2" under "Previously connected devices," tap See all.
- Under “Other devices”, tap “Pixel Stand Gen 2”.
- On the “Device Details” screen, Scroll down and tap “Charging mode”.
- Tap a charging mode.
To temporarily change modes:
- Place your phone on the stand.
- Tap the screen to bring up the Pixel Stand Control Screen.
- Tap a charging mode near the bottom of the screen.
The next time you use your Pixel Stand (2nd gen), the charging mode reverts to the default setting. When you activate the setting, the button changes to the phone's accent color.
Change interruptions & brightness (Pixel 3 & later, excluding 6a and Fold)
- Open your phone’s Settings app.
- Tap Connected devices.
- If you don't see "Pixel Stand" under "Previously connected devices," tap See all.
- Next to "Pixel Stand," tap Settings .
- Turn your settings on or off:
- Screen off when dark: Make your phone screen turn off in a dark room.
- Do Not Disturb while docked: Hide notifications or sounds while your phone is charging. Learn more about Do Not Disturb.
- Photo frame: Show photos from Google Photos to display while your phone is on your Pixel Stand. Tap Photo frame on ambient display. To choose your photos, tap Select Google Photos albums.
- Sunrise alarm: Have your phone screen slowly light up during the 15 minutes before your alarm. You can choose the range of time.
- Bedtime: If you set a bedtime schedule, you’ll get a notification at bedtime. To check your morning alarm and start your sleep sounds: On the notification, tap Going to sleep the current sound or Choose another sound.

Fix problems with your Pixel Stand
Phone won’t charge wirelesslyAfter each of the following solutions, check if your charger has started working.
- Take off your case and any attachments, like mounts or grips.
- Check that your phone’s screen is facing out, with the back against the Pixel Stand.
- Center your phone on the Pixel Stand.
- Try charging both with your phone upright and on its side.
- Use the cable and power adapter that came in the box with your Pixel Stand.
- Make sure the cable is plugged in to the power adapter, and the adapter is plugged in to a working outlet.
Your Pixel Stand is having trouble charging your phone. After each step below, check if your charger has started working.
- Remove your phone from your Pixel Stand, then put it back on.
- Make sure your phone is centered on your Pixel Stand.
- Try charging both with your phone upright and on its side.
- Take off your phone case, then put your phone back on your Pixel Stand.
If your phone or Pixel Stand feels warmer than normal while charging, there usually isn't cause for concern. It's normal for your phone or Pixel Stand to get warmer during charging.
If your phone is charging from a very low battery, your phone or Pixel Stand might feel especially warm.

- Remove your phone from your Pixel Stand.
- Unplug your Pixel Stand from its cable.
- Using isopropyl alcohol (IPA) wipes, gently wipe the surface.
- Let dry before placing your phone back on your Pixel Stand.
When you charge your phone on your Pixel Stand, the top right corner of your phone’s screen shows the Pixel Stand settings icon. After 15 seconds, the Pixel Stand settings icon disappears.
