Block & report someone in Google Photos

To stop interactions with someone, you can block their Google Account. Learn about blocking Google Accounts.​

Block a person in a shared album

  1. On your computer, go to photos.google.com.
  2. Sign in to your Google Account.
  3. Open an album that they've joined.
  4. At the top, select More More and then Options.
  5. Next to the person's name, select More More and then Block person.

Block a person in a conversation

  1. On your computer, go to photos.google.com.
  2. Sign in to your Google Account.
  3. Select the conversation you want to open.
  4. At the top, select the names of the people in the conversation.
  5. Next to the person you want to block, select More More and then Block person.

What happens when you block someone

  • You can’t find each other's photos, videos, or comments in Google Photos. If they have a link to your album, they may be able to find it if they're signed out.
  • If you own the album and you block a contributor, their content is removed from the album.
  • If you block the owner of an album, your content is removed from the album.
  • If you block someone from an album you don’t own, you and the person you block can’t find each other’s content.
  • A person you block is also blocked in some other Google services, like Hangouts.

Find who you've blocked

You can review the accounts you’ve blocked and unblock them from your block list.

To unblock someone:

  1. On your computer, open your block list.
  2. Next to the account you want to unblock, select Remove Close.


Report offensive or unwanted photos that were sent to you

If someone uses a shareable link to send you photos or videos that you believe violate Google policies, you can report them.

Harassment, bullying, hate speech, graphic violence, sexually explicit content, or spam

  1. Open the photo or video in Google Photos.
  2. At the top, select More More and then Report abuse.
    • If you can't find it, select Sign In. You need to be signed in to your Google Account to report something.
  3. Choose the reason for your report.
  4. Select Report.

Image of a minor

If you’re the minor in the image, or if you’re the parent or guardian of the minor, you can request to restrict sharing of that image.

Report a shared album

  1. On your computer, go to photos.google.com.
  2. Click Sharing .
  3. Open the shared album you want to report.
  4. At the top, click More More and then Report abuse.
  5. Choose the reason for your report.
  6. Click Report.

If you don’t want to open the shared album, you can still report it.

  1. On your computer, go to photos.google.com.
  2. Click Sharing .
  3. Next to the album you want to report, click More More.
  4. Click Report abuse and then Report.

Report a conversation

  1. On your computer, go to photos.google.com.
  2. Click Sharing .
  3. Click the conversation you want to report.
  4. At the top, click More More and then Report abuse.
  5. Choose the reason for your report.
  6. Click Report.

If you don’t want to open the conversation, you can still report it.

  1. On your computer, go to photos.google.com.
  2. Click Sharing .
  3. Next to the conversation you want to report, click More More and then Report abuse.
  4. Choose the reason for your report.
  5. Click Report.

Report a comment

  1. Open the photo or video in Google Photos.
  2. Next to the commenter’s name and date, select the Down arrow Down arrow and then Report abuse.

Actions Google might take

When Google receives your report, we may review the content and take action. Actions we might take:

  • Restrict access to the content
  • Remove the content
  • Limit or terminate the violator's access to Google products
Keep in mind that something you think is offensive may not be spam or abuse according to Google policies.
