Google often redirects you to a News edition that corresponds with either your Google interface language or your IP address location. If your Google interface language is Italian, for example, you'll automatically get the Italian Google News page.
Alternatively, we use your computer's IP address, which is frequently the Internet address of your Internet Service Provider (ISP), to determine your location. We normally redirect users outside the United States to one of our region-specific sites (e.g. http://news.google.co.uk for UK users). This provides users with easy access to region-specific news headlines.
If you'd like to see a different Google News edition, you can use the drop-down menu that appears at the top of the News page, the link will display the name of the edition that you're currently viewing. To change your edition click any of the options listed in the menu. For example, to switch to the German edition, you'd select "Deutschland" from the drop-down menu.
If you have a personalised Google News page, you will be redirected to this personalised edition by default whenever you're signed in to your Google Account. You can set which edition is personalised, and therefore your default, by following these steps:
- Make sure that you're signed in.
- Navigate to the country edition that you prefer.
- Click the "Personalise your news" link at the top of the page. You'll be asked whether or not you'd like to delete any existing personalisation settings in an other edition. Click "Yes" to continue.
Additionally, you can set a bookmark for your desired edition. For example, to access the US edition of Google News, set a bookmark for http://news.google.com/news?ned=us. You can see the permanent links of other editions by viewing the full list of Google News editions.
