Tips for searching

Search by date

To search for articles crawled in the last hour, day, week, month, or a specified date use Advanced News Search page. On the Google News homepage, you can access Advanced News Search by clicking on the small down arrow that appears in the regular search field at the top of the page.

Enter your search terms at the top of the page. Under Date added select your date preference from the drop-down menu. For a specific date range, select “specified date range” and enter what range you’d like Google News to search in the two date fields. For ranges older than 30 days, your results may include articles from Google News Archive.

After conducting a search on Google News, you can choose one of preselected ranges or create a custom range of your own in the search panel that appears in the lefthand column of the page. By clicking Archives you can limit your search to only News Archive Search results. Additionally, you can click Sorted by date to show results in reverse chronological order.

Google News automatically sorts your search results based on their relevance to your query. You can sort results by date of crawl, with or without duplicate copies of the same stories, by selecting the appropriate link in the navigation bar on the left side of the search results page.
