With News near you, many types of mobile users can opt for a Google News experience that will adapt and show more news content relevant to your current location. To use this feature, you need to allow Google News to access geographic location information provided by your mobile browser.
If you're having trouble with this section failing to display, you may need to enable Google News to detect your location:
- On an Android phone, you can do this in the browser's "Settings" menu. Once you're in this menu, go to Website settings under Advanced configuration. Select news.google.com and select 'Clear location access'.
- On an iPhone, you can do this in the phone's "General" settings. Select Reset, and then Reset Location Warnings.
After refreshing Google News in your browser, you should be prompted again for whether you want to share your location. Tap "Share location."
If you'd like to remove permissions granted to this app to access your location, you can take either of the following steps:
- Hide the News near you section through the personalization page
- Turn off the Enable location section in your browser settings
