Using Maps with your car or navigation device

You can send business listings found in Google Maps to a number of different navigation devices. Click on the name of your vehicle or device below for more information.

 

Audi

This service allows you to send business listings, street addresses and geographic positions found in Google Maps to your Audi.

What is required to use this service?

  • A compatible vehicle infotainment system
    For Audi A8 produced in 2010 or later, the service is available in selected European markets for vehicles equipped with the Audi MMI Navigation plus and the Audi Bluetooth car phone online.
  • A user account on myAudi, where you have added your vehicle and obtained a myAudi-PIN in the online services configuration section.
    If you do not yet have an account at myAudi, please create a new account on the myAudi website before using this service:

  • A cellular data connection
    • either a mobile phone with data plan bonded in car phone mode (SIM Access Profile)
    • or a SIM-card with data plan inserted in the SIM-card slot of the MMI Navigation plus
BMW - My Info

This service allows you as a BMW Assist subscriber to use MyInfo to send business listings and street addresses found in Google Maps to your vehicle: Simply search for businesses or street addresses on Google Maps and send the listing to your BMW.

  • How can I send business listings or street addresses to my BMW?
    Just visit maps.google.com and search for any business or street address. When it appears, open the info window and click click More > Send. In the resulting pop-up choose Car and select BMW, then type in your e-mail address on file with BMW Assist as the account name, a personal note if desired, maybe a phone number, and hit Send. Optionally, you may also add a personal message and a telephone number to an address.

    When you get into your BMW, simply go to the MyInfo or Message section within the BMW Assist menu and select the listing desired. You can now call the phone number directly with your Bluetooth® linked mobile phone or if your BMW is equipped with a navigation system you can immediately start route guidance.
     
  • Where does it work?
    Google MyInfo is currently supported for BMW Assist subscribers in the United States, Canada, Germany, United Kingdom, Austria and Italy. Availability may vary from model to model*.


  • Do I have to pay anything to send business listings to my car?
    Absolutely not. If you are a BMW Assist subscriber this feature is already included. Neither Google nor BMW will charge you for the destinations sent.


  • Can I send data from Google Maps to a BMW which is not mine?
    Absolutely. Just enter the corresponding BMW Assist account name (their e-mail address on file with BMW Assist in the USA and Canada).


  • What if I don't want my BMW to receive destinations from Google Maps?
    Yes, Google MyInfo can be disabled for your BMW*. Disabling MyInfo will prevent destinations from being transferred to your BMW, but will still allow the use of all other BMW Assist services.


  • Why did my destination not reach the car?
    Please check if the BMW Assist account name was entered correctly, a valid BMW Assist subscription is in place and that MyInfo has not been disabled.

Garmin device

This service allows you to search for a business address and transfer it from the Google Maps website to your Garmin device. You can do this by clicking the Send to GPS button, which transfers the address from Google Maps to your Garmin device via its USB connection. The point will be saved as one of your favorites, and you can navigate to it or view it on a map just like with any other favorite.

You can send business addresses to your Garmin device from these countries: Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United States.

Using your Garmin with Google Maps

What you'll need:

  • A Garmin Personal Navigation Device such as a nüvi or a Street Pilot
  • A personal computer running Windows XP, 2000 or MacOS X V10.4 or higher
  • A USB cable to connect your Garmin device to your computer
  • One of the following browsers:
    • On a Windows PC
      • Internet Explorer version 6.0+
      • Firefox 1.5+
    • On a Mac
      • Firefox 2.0+
      • Safari 2.0+
  • The Garmin Communicator plugin, which lets your browser talk to your Garmin device.

How to use the service:

  1. Search for a business. 
  2. Click More > Send in the business's info window.
  3. Click the GPS tab in the Send window.
  4. Select 'Garmin' from the Brand drop-down menu.
  5. From the Include drop-down menu, select the address you want to send and press the Send button.

Note: Make sure your Garmin device is connected to your computer in order to receive the new address.

Troubleshooting

Common error messages:

  • 'No Garmin GPS devices were found. Please connect your device to your computer and scan again.'
    • Your Garmin device isn't connected to the USB port of your computer. Connect your device and press the Scan Again button.
  • 'This website uses the Garmin Communicator Plugin, which has not been installed in your browser. Click here to download the plugin.'
    • Follow the link in the error message to install the Garmin Communicator plugin. You may have to return to Google Maps and repeat steps 1-5 above.
GPS device
You can send any business or street address to your GPS. Supported brands include: Garmin, NAVIGON, and Pioneer. Just visit maps.google.com and search for any business or street address. When you find the location, click the balloon on the map, click more, select Send, choose “GPS” and select your device’s brand. Type in the email address, phone number, GPS ID code, or serial number associated with your GPS device. Click Send.
Infiniti
Just visit maps.google.com and search for any business or street address. When you find the location, click the balloon on the map, click more, select Send, choose “Car” and pick “Infiniti.” Type in your primary email in the “My Account” field and click Send. You can look up or change your primary email by visiting the Infiniti Connection web portal and selecting My Profile.
Kia UVO
This service allows you to send destinations to your Kia vehicle’s navigation system. What is required to use this service?
  • Navigation System with UVO eServices. Please refer to your owner’s manual or kia.com to see if your vehicle comes equipped with this system.
  • MyUVO account. Please ensure you have registered your free MyUVO account on myuvo.com.
  • Compatible smart phone with UVO eServices smart phone app installed. Please ensure you have downloaded the UVO eServices smart phone app before using this service.

After you register your free MyUVO account and have installed the smart phone app, launch the app and log in. You will log in with the same email address and password you saved when registering your MyUVO account.

After you log into the app, select the Kia vehicle you wish to drive and then select “My POIs”. If you do not see the destination you recently sent from Google Maps, you may refresh the list of destinations by selecting Get Destinations.

Note: If you add a location when you have already saved 25 locations on your MyUVO account, the first location you saved will be deleted. In this case, it is recommended that you delete a location from your MyUVO account first before adding another on Google Maps.

MINI
Just visit maps.google.com and search for any business or street address. When you find the location, click the balloon on the map, click more, select Send, choose “Car” and pick “MINI.” Type in your MINI Connected account name and click Send.
Mercedes-Benz

Using Google Maps with your navigation device

This service allows you to send destinations (business listings and street addresses) and routes found in Google Maps to Mercedes-Benz vehicles equipped with mbrace (USA only) or COMAND Online (outside USA). Simply search for a business or an address on Google Maps and send the listing to your car. Your in-car navigation system can automatically provide directions to this destination.

What information can I send?

COMAND Online (outside USA) With COMAND Online, you can send destinations (business listings and street addresses) and routes generated on Google Maps to your vehicle.

How can I send destinations to my car?

mbrace: Search for a business listing or street address in Google Maps and click on the pin to open the info window. Within the info window select more, select Send, choose “Car” and pick “Mercedes-Benz.” Enter the email address associated with your mbrace account, and click Send.
 
When you get into your car, simply press the mbrace 'i' Button to complete the download of your address to your vehicle's navigation system. If you send more than one address, you will need to press the 'i' Button once for each address you wish to download (Note: the addresses will download in the same order they were sent). You can immediately start route guidance, or save the destination information for future use. Remember, if you have multiple Mercedes-Benz vehicles equipped and activated with mbrace, each address you send will be retrievable by all vehicles associated with the e-mail address you specified in your mbrace account.
 
COMAND Online: Search for a business listing or street address in Google Maps and click on the pin to open the info window. Within the info window select more > Send, and enter your COMAND Online ID, and click Send. Your COMAND Online ID is either your Vehicle Identification Number or email address (you are able to change this in your vehicle under COMAND Online -> Options). These destinations and route are now available on our COMAND Online server for download. mbrace (USA only) The mbrace system allows you to send destinations (business listings and street addresses) to your vehicle. Currently mbrace does not support sending routes.

 

To use the destination and routes in your car, please follow these steps:
  1. Within the COMAND system click the globe symbol in the main application line. The services carousel appears.
  2. Select and click the COMAND Online service tile. The COMAND Online main page loads and is being displayed.
  3. Select and click the Destination/Route Download service tile. A list of routes and destinations available on the COMAND Online server appears.
The destinations and routes in this list provide the following functionality:
  • Display Details
  • Navigate to destination/along route
  • Import into Personal POI folder (on SD Card)
  • Import into Address book (only destinations)
  • Call (only destinations - if phone number available)
  • Delete destination/route from COMAND Online server

How can I configure routes for my car? (COMAND Online only)

With COMAND Online you can also send routes generated on Google Maps to your vehicle. Learn how to generate routes.

Where does it work?

mbrace The Google Send-to-Car feature is currently enabled for business listings and street addresses in the U.S. and Canada, but you can only send listings to Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the U.S. enabled with mbrace.

COMAND Online COMAND Online Destination/Route download works in vehicles equipped with COMAND Online. Find out which countries the Google Send-to-Car functionality is available in.

Do I have to pay anything to send business listings to my car?

mbrace This feature is automatically included as part of your mbrace service subscription.

COMAND Online Users are only charged for the in-vehicle COMAND Online data usage according to their contract with their mobile network provider.

Nissan - CARWINGS

How can I send business listings or street addresses to my Nissan CARWINGS?
Just visit maps.google.com and search for any business or street address. When you find the location, click the balloon on the map, click more, select Send, choose “Car” and pick “Nissan.” Type in your Nissan account name and click Send.

Rolls-Royce Ghost

Rolls-Royce Assist subscribers can use MyInfo to send business listings and street addresses from Google Maps to their vehicles.

  • How can I send business listings or street addresses to my Rolls-Royce Ghost?
    Just visit maps.google.com and search for any business or street address. When you find the location, click the red pin to open the info window. Then select more, select Send, choose “Car” and pick “Rolls-Royce.” Type in the e-mail address on file with Rolls-Royce Assist as the account name, click Send. When you get into your Rolls-Royce Ghost, simply go to the Message section within the Rolls-Royce Assist menu and select the desired listing. You can then call the phone number directly with your Bluetooth® linked mobile phone or you can immediately start route guidance.

  • Where does it work?
    Google MyInfo is currently supported for Rolls-Royce Assist subscribers in the United States (including Puerto Rico) and Canada. Availability is currently only on the Rolls-Royce Ghost.

  • Do I have to pay anything to send business listings to my car?
    Absolutely not. If you are a Rolls-Royce Assist subscriber, this feature is already included. Neither Google nor Rolls-Royce will charge you for this service.

  • Can I send data from Google Maps to a Rolls-Royce Ghost which is not mine?
    Absolutely. Just enter their corresponding Rolls-Royce Assist account name (the e-mail address on file with Rolls-Royce Assist).

  • What if I don't want my Rolls-Royce to receive destinations from Google Maps?
    Google MyInfo can be disabled for your Rolls-Royce Ghost by changing or deleting your e-mail address on file. Disabling MyInfo will prevent destinations from being transferred to your Rolls-Royce Ghost, but will still allow the use of all other Rolls-Royce Assist services.

  • Why did my destination not reach my Motor Car?
    Check whether the Rolls-Royce Assist e-mail address on file was entered correctly, a valid Rolls-Royce Assist subscription is in place, and that MyInfo has not been disabled. Also, check country availability and functionality in your Rolls-Royce Ghost with your local Rolls-Royce dealer.
Toyota

What is required to use this service?

  • A supported navigation system in your car
    Please refer to your owner's manual to check if your system is compatible for this service.
  • A user account on Toyota portal, where you should have registered your car navigation system
    If you do not have an account, you can create a new account on my.toyota.eu and register your car along with the navigation system. You will need your Vehicle Identification Number and navigation system Identification Number to create an account.
  • A compatible mobile phone with data plan
    The mobile phone should be paired with the navigation system in the car. The list of compatible mobile phones is available at my.toyota.eu web portal.

How can I send a destination to my car?

  1. Visit Google Maps and search for your destination
  2. From the results, select your the red pin to open the info window and choose More > Send.
  3. In the pop-up window, select Car, then select Make as Toyota and provide your Toyota username. Click on “Send” button.
  4. Authenticate using your Toyota password, if you are not already authenticated.
  5. Select where you want to send this destination and click on “Send”.

How do I retrieve the destinations sent from Google Maps in my car?

Downloading destinations directly to your car:
  1. Verify on your mobile phone that the Internet connection is active.
  2. Pair a compatible Bluetooth® phone to your navigation system.
  3. Set up the Internet connection on the navigation system using your username and password.
Using USB stick to upload the destination:
If you do not have a compatible mobile phone you can still use a USB stick to import the destinations from your “Send to car destinations” directly to your navigation system.

Where is this service available?

This service is currently available in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Spain, Finland, France, Italy, Liechtenstein, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom. In the future, more countries will become available. Please check my.toyota.eu to view the latest list.

Do I have to pay anything for using this service?

No. Neither Google nor Toyota will charge you for sending destinations. However, standard data transfer charges will apply if you download the destinations using the mobile data connection to your car.
