If you know the coordinates of a location, you can simply enter them into the search box to locate it on Google Maps. You can even customize the label of a location's marker in case you want to share the map with your friends. Check out this example of a custom label to see how it works.
If you're browsing Google Maps and want to know the coordinates of a location, just right-click on the map and select What's here?. The coordinates will automatically pop up in the search box. To learn more about understanding coordinates, check out this article.
Using Google Labs to grab latitude and longitude coordinates
Google Maps Labs allows you to try out experimental new features in Maps. You can activate one or both of the following Labs features to easily grab latitude and longitude coordinates from Google Maps.
To turn on a Labs feature in Google Maps, click the green conical flask icon at the top right of the screen. This will bring up a list of Labs features that you can choose from. If you're signed in with your Google account, we will remember which Labs you have enabled the next time you sign in to Google Maps.
When you place your mouse cursor somewhere on the map, the LatLng Tooltip Lab feature displays a tooltip that displays the latitude and longitude coordinates. To activate the tooltip, press the SHIFT key on your keyboard.
LatLng Marker (Marcelo C)
The LatLng Marker allows you to drop a mini marker with latitude and longitude coordinates for an area that you select. To create the marker, right-click on an area of the map and select Drop LatLng Marker from the menu.
