If you're having trouble using Google Maps with Firefox or other browsers, try the recommendations below to see if any of them resolves the problem:
Reconfigure your browser with JavaScript
If you are running Mozilla Firefox 0.8+ or Netscape 7.1+ on Windows or Mac OS X, follow these steps:
- Type
about:configin the browser's address bar. - Type
imagein the Filter field. - Look for the field
dom.disable_image_src_setand verify that the value is set to FALSE. - Look for the field
network.image.imageBehavioris set to 0 (the default setting). In some browsers, this setting may be namedpermissions.default.image.
If you continue to experience difficulties, you may want to uninstall any programs or extensions that change the way your browser handles JavaScript. Other users have reported that these programs may affect the ability to view the maps.
Check for security settings, browser plug-ins, and extensions
Some security programs and third-party browser plug-ins are designed to modify webpage content and may interfere with the map display. If applicable, please try temporarily disabling components that may disable our maps in your browser.
If you're encountering a problem where the map fails to load and the status is stuck on " loading...," there may be an issue with your Skype extension. To test, try this link: http://www.google.com/mapfiles/skype_bug.html
If the link provided above doesn't provide an answer, either disable this extension or update your Skype extension to the latest version. To learn more, check out: http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=182811
Add Google Maps as a trusted site
The easiest and safest way to enable viewing maps in your browser is to add Google Maps to your list of trusted sites in your browser. Here's how:
- Mozilla Firefox 3.5 and above: While on maps.google.com, click Tools > Page Info > Permissions > Share Location > Select 'Always ask'
- Firefox 3.1 and below (using Gears): Tools > Gears Settings > Click Remove next to maps.google.com
- Safari: Go to Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Prompt for each website one time only. If you're on a Mac you may be prompted to enable location services at the system level before you can turn on location services for Safari.
