To opt out of Network location services, follow the steps below. (Specific instructions for your Android device may vary).
- Go to your device's Settings app.
- Select Location Services.
- Un-check Google’s location service.
Your device will no longer send anonymous location data to Google's servers. Learn more.
Note: Your device's GPS must be activated in order to use Google Maps Navigation (Beta). Network Location does not have to be activated in order to use this feature.
Opt out of location services entirely (ICS)
To opt out of location services entirely:
- Go to your device's Settings app.
- Select Location Services.
- Un-check both Google’s location service and GPS Satellites.
Note: You won't be able to use Google Maps Navigation (Beta) without enabling the GPS location source first.
Opt out of network location services (version 3.2.6 and lower)
To opt out of Network location services follow steps below. (Specific instructions for your Android device may vary).
- Go to your device's Settings app.
- Select Location & security.
- Un-check Use wireless networks and confirm.
- Your device will no longer send anonymous location data to Google's servers. Learn more.
Note: Your device's GPS must be activated in order to use Google Maps Navigation (Beta). Network Location does not have to be activated in order to use this feature.
