Map layers

About Layers

Layers allow you to view locations and additional info overlaid on the map. You can add multiple layers or remove specific layers to control exactly what information you want visible on the map at the same time.

Search for an address, location, category, or business to create a layer for your search results. Use the layers menu to add layers for familiar features such as Directions, Traffic, or Google Latitude.

From the Layers menu, you can:

  • Browse more layers to add to the map such as My Maps, Transit Lines, or Wikipedia.
  • See layers that are currently on the map and turn on/off individual layers.
  • Clear all layers from the map.
  • See recently viewed layers that have been turned off. If you turn a recently viewed layer back on, the layer will remain on the map until you specifically turn it off or clear the map.
