The new type of comments and the discussions thread are only available in documents that were created after we launched the feature.
These new comments will only work for:
- The new version of Google documents, with a ruler above the editing space.
- Documents that were created after the new comments feature was launched.
How can you tell if your document has new- or old- style comments?
The easiest way to tell if your document supports new-style comments is if you see the Discussions menu in the top right of your document:
Why do my comments look different in some documents?
Documents created after we launched new-style comments will have comments that look considerably different than old-style comments.
