You can store up to 5 GB of content shared between Google Drive and Google+ Photos for free. If you’re approaching the 5 GB limit or if you've run out of storage, you can purchase additional storage or reduce your storage usage.

Empty your Trash
Synced or uploaded files that are in your Trash use storage space (Google Docs don’t take up storage space). When you empty your Trash, permanently removing files and folders, you'll recover some of your storage quota. Here’s how to purge items from your Trash:
- Click More in the left navigation of your Google Drive.
- Select Trash.
- Click the Empty trash button, or select an item in the trash and click Delete forever.
Delete files that use the most storage
You can also delete the files that are using the most storage space. Here’s how:
- Click More in the left navigation.
- Click All items.
- Go to the Sort menu.
- Select "Quota used."
- Check the box next to file(s) taking up storage space that you'd like to delete and click the Trash icon.
- Select Trash from the left navigation.
- Click the Empty trash button, or select an item in the trash and click Delete forever.
