Teams are groups of users that share access to the same companies, orders, and ad units. They allow you to specify which entities in your network a user has access to. For example, you might have a German trafficking team to work with your German advertisers, an automotive team to work with your auto advertisers, or teams for each of your web properties, such as your sports site, your news site, and your humor site.
Teams can include any combination of companies, orders, and ad units. You also add users to the team, and those users are given access to the companies, orders, and ad units in the team. Users, companies orders, and ad units can be added to more than one team.
For users who need universal access, there's also an 'All entities' team, which provides access to all companies, orders, and ad units.
Teams versus roles
Teams provide users with access to entities in your network: companies, ad units, and orders. Roles determine which features and functions a user can access, such as viewing or editing creatives. To view or edit an object, a user has to be both part of a team that includes the object and assigned a role that can access the object. (Learn more about roles.)
Depending on the user's role, a user might not have permission to view orders, ad units, or companies. Even if the user is on a team that includes these objects, that user won't be able to access them because of the user role restrictions.
Individual access to orders
In addition to access through teams, an order can be accessed by the user that created it, as well as by any user who's been assigned to the order as a trafficker or salesperson. These users will also need to have user roles that include the 'View my orders and line items' permission enabled.
Teams and inventory targeting
Teams limit the inventory to which users can target line items. Users can only target line items to ad units on their teams. This rule also applies to placements: a user can only target line items to placements in which all of the ad units are on the user's teams.
Only users who are members of the 'All entities' team can create run-of-network line items.
