Data processor mode is currently only available for users on managed ChromeOS devices in these countries.
Delete User Data is a tool for organizations that have switched over to data processor mode, and offers a way for administrators to delete a user’s personal data in response to that user's deletion requests.
Permissions to access this feature
Delete User Data gives administrators the ability to search and delete a managed user’s personal data, both Service Data and Customer Personal Data. Similar to all other privileges, the Super Administrator has access to the Delete User Data tool.
We recommend that Super Administrators delegate the separate privilege for Delete User Data to the administrator responsible for these processes in your organization.
In order to enable the privilege for another admin, select UsersDelete.
How to Delete User Data
- Log in to the Google Admin console
- Go to Devices
Chrome
- Click Delete User Data
- Administrators can search for users by email address, to select those users whose data will be deleted
Note that not all Service Data is deleted through this process. Service Data processed by Essential Services for certain limited purposes (e.g., User Metrics) may be retained by Google and held for standard retention periods.
Terms and definitions
- Personal data has the meaning given to it in the GDPR, and includes both Customer Personal Data and Service Data.
- Customer Personal Data refers to personal data contained within Customer Data. Customer Data is the data provided to Google by or on behalf of customers or their managed end users through the Essential Services, and/or received via the Essential Services by customers or their managed end users.
- Service Data refers to personal data that Google collects or generates during the provision of Essential Services to customers.
