Data processor mode is currently only available for users on managed ChromeOS devices in these countries.
Download Service Data (DSD) is a tool available for organizations that have switched over to data processor mode. This feature offers administrators a way to download Service Data associated with a managed user and processed by Essential Services, to help fulfill their organizations’ data protection obligations, including compliance with Data Subject Access Requests.
When responding to a Data Subject Access Request, administrators should utilize both the DSD and Takeout Customer Data tools, to retrieve all relevant personal data.
Permissions to access this tool
DSD gives administrators the ability to search within and download Service Data associated with a managed end user or device. Unless you’re a Super Administrator, use of this tool requires assigning and enabling a separate privilege for access.
We recommend that Super Administrators delegate the separate privilege for DSD to the administrator responsible for these processes in your organization.
In order to enable the privilege for another administrator, select Chrome ManagementDownload Service Data Info.
How to download Service Data
- Log in to the Google Admin console: Devices

- Click Download Service Data.
- Administrators can search by device serial number or user email address to select the relevant Service Data. By using the DSD tool, organizations are provided with relevant Service Data processed by Google when providing Essential Services. Organizations should consider how to review and redact the downloaded data consistent with applicable legal and other requirements in your jurisdiction.
Admins can use the separate Takeout Customer Data tool to download a user’s Customer Personal Data.
Terms and definitions
- Personal data has the meaning given to it in the GDPR, and includes both Customer Personal Data and Service Data.
- Customer Personal Data refers to personal data contained within Customer Data. Customer Data is the data provided to Google by or on behalf of customers or their managed end users through the Essential Services, and/or received via the Essential Services by customers or their managed end users.
- Service Data refers to personal data that Google collects or generates during the provision of Essential Services to customers.
