Does your Gmail and Google Voice usernames match?

Do you see an upgrade button in Google Voice?
If you have already upgraded your Google Voice account, we recommend double checking that you've correctly enabled Google Chat as a forwarding phone
To ensure that Google Chat is correct enabled as a forwarding phone:
- Sign in to Google Voice at http://www.google.com/voice.
- Click Settings and select Google Voice settings.
- On the Phones tab, ensure that the check box next to Google Chat is selected.
If you do not see Google Chat as an option, you must make at lease one outbound phone call before it appears.

At this time, you can only receive calls in Gmail from a Google Voice account that is associated with the same email address. If you still wish to receive calls in Gmail, you'll need to upgrade the Google Voice account associated with your Gmail username.
Note: it is not currently possible to transfer a Google Voice number between Google Accounts.
If you are unable to make a phone call in Gmail, it's possible that you are connected to chat through a browser that does not have the voice and video chat plug-in installed.
To check if you have the voice and video chat plug-in installed:
- Click the Settings link in Gmail.
- Navigate to the Chat tab.
If you have the plug-in installed, you will see the current version information in the Voice and video chat section.
Is the plug-in installed?
If the voice and video chat plug-in is correctly installed, it may be possible that the phone number you have entered is not formated correctly. Please try manually typing in the number you wish to call if you have copied and pasted it from elsewhere.
If you are making an international call, we recommend that you select the correct country from the country drop down. Please make sure that you have not accidentally entered the country code twice.
