Minor controls for Hangouts Parties

How it works

18+ Hangout Parties: When someone starts a Hangout Party the person will be able to restrict minors from joining it by selecting "Restrict minors from joining this video call" in the share box. Minors will see an error message if they try to join a Hangout Party that’s marked as 18+.

Hangout Parties without an age restriction: When you initially join a Hangout Party you're consenting to Hangout with everyone who is there.

Anyone in a Hangout Party can add others, including people who are not in your circles.
Remember, you can block or ignore someone at any time. To do so on a:
  • Desktop device: You can ignore someone by hovering over their image and clicking . Or you can close the Hangout Party to leave immediately.
  • Mobile device: You can block someone by tapping their image and then tapping , or tap the to leave the Hangout Party immediately.

Minor controls with YouTube

Minors are unable to watch R rated videos in a video call. If an R rated video is played, the minor will see a message that the content being played is restricted.

If at any time you feel uncomfortable in a Hangout Party, simply press the exit button
