Use the Jira app in Chat to get messages about updates to your Jira Software projects. The app sends messages from Jira to Chat.
Before you begin
- You need permission from your Google Workspace administrator to install apps.
- You need to add the app to Chat. Learn how to find apps and add them to Chat.
- Using your Jira administrator privileges, install the Chat Jira plugin from the Atlassian Marketplace.
Set up the Jira app in Chat
- Open Chat.
- Open a direct message with the app or go to a space with the app.
- Enter domain.atlassian.net, where domain is your Jira cloud site. In spaces, enter @Jira domain.atlassian.net.
- Click Configure.
The configuration window opens. - Under Choose Project, click the Down arrow and select the Jira project to get notifications for.
- Under Thread messages by, select Thread by project or Thread by issue.
- Check the boxes for the items you want to get notifications about in Chat.
- Click Save.
Change app settings
- Open Chat.
- Open a direct message with the app or go to a space with the app.
- Enter configure. In spaces, enter @Jira configure.
The settings page opens. - Change the settings as needed.
- Click Save.
Delete app settings
- Open Chat.
- Open a direct message with the app or go to a space with the app.
- Enter delete config. In spaces, enter @Jira delete config.
Removing the app from a space deletes the app settings.
Using the app in spaces
To use the app in spaces, you need to explicitly @mention the app in each message to the app (including in replies to messages from the app). The @mention confirms you're sending the message to the app and not to others in the space.
