You can view and manage events from different accounts in the Google Calendar app.
Before you start
- Set your phone screen orientation to portrait mode so your profile photo or Google Account is visible in the Google Calendar app.
- In Menu , your current account appears at the top. Other enabled accounts appear below your current account.
- Tip: You can show or hide all calendars for enabled accounts.
- Tap Menu .
- Select the calendars you want to appear in the grid.
Use your Google Account to access all features
If you use a local or a third-party account, some Google Calendar features may not be available. When you use your Google Account, you can:
- Add guests to events.
- Receive event invitations.
- Use event and calendar colors.
- Add attachments or video conferencing to your events.
- Sync across devices.
- Create tasks. Learn how to use Google Tasks.
What is a non-Google account?
Non-Google accounts can be either:
- A local account is a calendar either stored on a phone or created by another app.
- Events on the calendars associated with your local account are visible if the account is enabled. Learn how to enable non-Google accounts.
- You can choose a calendar associated with a local account when you create an event.
- A third-party account is an account not managed by Google but by another calendar app.
- If you prefer to use a third-party account that’s enabled, you can switch to it from your profile photo.
- You can also choose a calendar associated with a third-party account when you create an event.
Switch between accounts
Important:
- You can’t switch to a local account.
- To switch to a third-party account, enable the account in Calendar app settings. Learn how to enable non-Google accounts.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Calendar app .
- At the top right, tap your profile photo or Google Account .
- From the window, choose an option:
- Select a different account: If you have multiple accounts on the app, you can select a different enabled account.
- Manage your Google Account: Select this option to customize your Google Account. This option is only available when your current account is a Google Account.
- Switch to work profile or Switch to personal profile: This feature only works if you use work mode on your phone and you and your work administrator enable the feature.
- Important: To manage any personal calendars you have on your work profile, switch to the Google Calendar app associated with your personal profile.
- Manage accounts on this device: This option takes you to your device’s Settings, where you can add, remove, or update accounts.
- Add another account: You can add another account to the Google Calendar app. When you add a new Google Account, it becomes your current account.
- Your profile photo or Google Account shows the account you switch to.
Tips:
- Before you switch to a different account, save any changes or updates.
- If an account is ineligible for a specific action, Google Calendar notifies you and automatically switches to the eligible account.
Enable a non-Google account
Important: To show events from a non-Google account in the Calendar app, enable the account in Settings.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Calendar app .
- At the top left, tap Menu Settings .
- Tap Manage accounts.
- Enable the non-Google account.
Account switch notifications
On Google Calendar, when you create an event using a non-Google account, you may receive a warning about your chosen account’s limitations. This appears when you use an account that may not support common Google Calendar features, like colors, tasks, and syncing.
To access Google Calendar’s available features: From the notification, tap Switch account to switch to your Google Account.
