[UA] Filter on geography

Instructions for creating filters are in Create/manage view filters.

Here are two ways to use filters on geo-fields to track data based on geographical regions:

1. Consolidate countries into sales regions

In addition to tracking data from individual countries, see how many sessions start in each of your sales regions (such as APLA, EMEA, or North America). Using a filtered view, you can consolidate the countries of a sales region into it's respective region name. In this way, you can track data from a region that is spread across multiple countries.

For example, the sales region known as APLA (Asia Pacific & Latin America) includes the following countries:

Argentina
Australia
Brazil
China
Hong Kong
India
Indonesia
Japan
Mexico
New Zealand
South Korea
Taiwan

To track this region, create a view for just that data, and apply the following filter to that view:

Filter Type: Custom filter > Include

Filter Field: Country

Filter Pattern: Argentina|Australia|Brazil|China|Hong Kong|India|Indonesia|Japan|Mexico|New Zealand|South Korea|Taiwan

2. Use Region-Specific Reporting

You can also track data from smaller geographical regions such as specific cities, states, or individual countries. To view statistics from these types of regions, use the following Include filter:

  • Filter Type: Custom filter > Include
  • Filter Field: City (you can also use Region or Country)
  • Filter Pattern: Salvador|Rio de Janeiro|Sao Paulo

For an overview of filters, read About view filters.
