Ad Exchange buyers are allowed to use many technology vendors that utilize tools such as ad servers, research technologies, and remarketing. To implement, an advertiser calls another vendor's URL in their HTML snippet. This is considered a "4th party" call. A vendor must be explicitly approved to run on Ad Exchange. Some approved vendors are allowed to be called without further action, while others must be explicitly declared in the Ad technology box in the user interface. Any vendor not on the lists below is prohibited from being used in Ad Exchange. The lists below help determine:
- if a technology vendor is approved to run on Ad Exchange, and
- if a technology vendor needs to be declared in the buy-side user interface.
Approved with no declaration needed
These vendors do not need to be explicitly declared because they have been deemed unobjectionable by Ad Exchange sellers. Should a publisher or set of publishers representing 20% or more of the inventory in Ad Exchange object to a vendor, it will be moved to the “Vendors that need to be declared” list. For creatives that are booked directly, buyers need to select Image & Flash in the Ad technology box in the buy-side user interface when creating a third-party ad.
