AdSense for video allows you to monetize your web-based video content. AdSense for video uses Google’s Interactive Media Ads (IMA) SDK, the technology used to request ads from within your Flash-based video player. The Google IMA SDK is an extension for Adobe ActionScript 3 that allows developers to make ad requests to the AdSense network, interpret ad responses and render ads. Many of the leading online video publishers use the IMA SDK to request and display video ads.

Requirements
If you want to integrate AdSense for video into your Flash-based video player, you’ll need to make sure that you adhere to the following prerequisites:
- Ensure you're compliant with the AdSense program policies, including these specific video policies.
- Utilize a video player integrated with the Google IMA3 SDK and/or compliant with VAST 2.0 / VPAID 1.0.
- Utilize a Flash-based AS3 player, as AdSense for video is only available for Flash-based players.
- Have a high volume of video content, i.e., greater than 40% video content with over 2 million video impressions monthly.
- Not be hosted on YouTube: YouTube content isn’t eligible for AdSense for video. If you’re a YouTube content producer, you could monetize through the YouTube partner program.
Ad formats
The Google IMA SDK supports the following ad types:
- Video (linear): A video ad that appears before, in-between, and after video content (i.e., pre-roll, mid-roll, post-roll).
- Standard: Non-skippable video ads that can serve in pre-roll, mid-roll and post-roll slots.
- TrueView (Beta): Skippable video ads that allow users to skip the ad after approximately five seconds. TrueView ads can only serve in the pre-roll position.
TrueView isn’t available for all publishers, as it’s currently in a limited beta.

Integration options
You can choose the AdSense for video integration option that best suits your business model:
- Direct integration (if you own the video player source code)
To directly integrate AdSense for video with your Flash video player, you need to integrate Google’s IMA SDK (ActionScript 3) on your video player.
Your video player will need to be compatible with this technology and you'll need to be comfortable executing the code integration independently. The setup process page will help guide you through the required steps.
Remember to check out the IMA SDK developer site for additional details about the API and advice on how to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Partner platform integration (if you don’t own the video player source code)
You can start earning money with AdSense for video even without writing any code. Below is a list of video partner platforms that have partnered with Google to integrate our IMA SDK technology.
We suggest that you use a video partner platform if at all possible. They often provide the easiest way to integrate and manage your ads. Feel free to contact them on how to get started with AdSense for video by using their video technology.

For video partner platforms that aren’t integrated with our IMA SDK product, you can still monetize with AdSense for video if they are VAST 2.0+ and VPAID 1.0+ compliant.
The VAST/VPAID ad request will execute the IMA SDK technology prior to making the ad request. This allows your video player to comply with the technology necessary to monetize your video content through AdSense for video.
