Processing orders

Note: If you are selling paid applications on Google Play, please read the following article.

You can process orders in the Google Checkout Merchant Center at any time. (View demo)

Important: As outlined in our program Terms of Service, all buyers making purchases through Google Wallet must first create their own Google Accounts. Google will cancel and refund all orders from buyers who haven't completed this signup process.

Processing orders in the Merchant Center

  1. Sign in to Google Checkout
    Your orders inbox will appear.

  2. Review the order
Click the order number in your inbox to view the order details, including estimated taxes and net revenue.

  3. Charge the buyer's credit card
After a buyer confirms a purchase, Google will perform an authorization for 100% of the order amount. You must charge the order within seven calendar days (168 hours) of receiving the order to be guaranteed these funds. Learn more about partial charges.

If the buyer's payment method is declined, please direct the customer to the 'Declined cards' section. The customer will find useful tips on resolving the payment decline issues and can also contact Google Wallet for further assistance.

Once you've determined you can fulfill and ship the order, charge the buyer's credit card by clicking Charge beside the appropriate order in your Orders Inbox or Charge this order on the Order Details page. When you charge an order, you'll also initiate the payout process.

  4. Ship the order and notify the buyer
Ship the order according to the method and timeframe agreed upon when the order was confirmed. Otherwise, the order will not be eligible for the Google Checkout Payment Guarantee Policy. You should not wait for a payout before shipping charged orders.

To notify your buyer that an order has shipped:

    1. Click Ship beside the appropriate order in your Orders Inbox or Send shipping confirmation from the Order Details page.
    2. Enter any relevant tracking information.
    3. Click Send confirmation to send email to your buyer.

Processing orders automatically

If you're using the Google Checkout API, you can also process orders systematically. Review 'Order Processing API' in the Developer's Guide for more information.

Intangible and digital goods and services

If you sell intangible goods and services, please take care to mark completed orders as 'Shipped', as this action in your Google Checkout account automatically triggers a confirmation email to your buyer and completes the order

However, if you are selling digital content or services, you do not need to mark it as shipped, as digital orders should be delivered immediately after the purchase is successful. Digital orders will automatically be marked as shipped when they're charged.

Google Checkout also provides specific messaging support for email or key/URL delivery of digital goods using the Digital Delivery API.

Transactions involving digital goods may not be covered under Google Checkout's Payment Guarantee policy.
