Google Groups for Business has a new look and a suite of new features to help you communicate within your organization. See the Google Apps Learning Center for more information on using these features.
Simplified home screen
Easily browse and search your domain's groups, or create a new group from the Groups home screen.
Forum view
Group topic lists are now presented in a helpful forum view that includes a customizable welcome message and an Actions menu for performing common tasks.
Advanced permissions
The owner of a group can assign members different roles (for example, Owner, Manager, or Member), which determine which group tasks members can and can't perform.
Tags
Organize topics by labeling them with tags. You can search and filter topics by tags, and update a topic's tags at any time.
Improved search
Groups now supports search operators similar to Gmail's. You can also search for topics by tag and save your most common search queries for future use.
Topic filtering
Filter topics by date, resolution status, assignee, and other options.
Question-and-answer groups
You can make any group a question-and-answer group, which gives it the following additional features:
- The Me too! button displayed in a topic lets users indicate that they have the same question as the topic's creator.
- A response to a question can be marked as the best answer. This also marks the entire topic as answered.
- You can configure a default question template that users fill in when they create a new topic.
Assigning topics
Assign responsibility for a topic to a group member. This feature, combined with tags and filtering, lets you use a group as an issue-tracking system.
Collaborative inbox
When you create a group, you can specify that the group is intended as a collaborative inbox. Doing so automatically enables collaborative permissions—such as assigning topics, marking duplicates, and changing tags—for all of the group's members. If you've already created a group that you'd like to use as a collaborative inbox, you can always enable these permissions individually.
Group nicknames
You can give a group additional email addresses (nicknames). Messages sent to a nickname of a group are delivered to the group as usual.
