If you run out of storage space, Google offers you the opportunity to purchase additional storage. The extra storage is available for Picasa Web Albums and Google Drive. The additional storage is not available for Gmail.
See Buy storage when you're ready to purchase more storage space. Keep in mind:
- You can't use the extra storage for Gmail. The amount of Gmail storage you have is determined by which edition of Google Apps your organization has. Standard Google Apps customers can increase their Gmail storage by becoming Google Apps for Business users; unlike for users with consumer Google accounts, purchasing additional storage does not increase your Gmail quota. (Tips for avoiding Gmail storage limits)
- The extra storage is only available to you. You can't share it with other users or transfer it to another account. You can't purchase storage for other users.
- Data in the extra storage is subject to the same ownership policy as the rest of your account. Google does not own your data. When your organization gave you a Google Apps account, it did so with a particular agreement about whether the data in your account belongs to the organization or to you. (Each organization's policy is different.) Whatever policy is in place for your account applies equally to data in the extra storage.
- The administrator for your organization has the option to prevent you from purchasing or renewing extra storage, or to prevent you from using Google Drive or Picasa. These actions could prevent you from taking full advantage of the extra storage. Google storage purchases are non-refundable even under these circumstances. You can purchase additional storage only when your administrator enables the User Managed Storage service for the organization you belong to.
After your storage expires or you cancel the subscription, your storage limits are set back to the standard levels. All of your existing data, such as photos and uploaded files, remain accessible, but you won't be able to add anything new for any product over the storage limit.
It's normal to experience a delay of up to 24 hours before purchased storage is added to your account. See our storage troubleshooting steps for more information.
