Classic Hangouts was replaced by Google Chat. On January 1, 2023, all chat in classic Hangouts was removed from your organization's account. Unless you or another administrator configured a Google Vault retention or hold, you can no longer export the chat.
If your organization configured a Vault retention or hold, you can download the chat as Gmail messages in the Vault Gmail section. For details, go to Get started with Vault search and export.
